Directions
- Strain grape leaves and rinse.
- Mix all the meat with pepper, salt, allspice, and wild rice.
- Add 1 cup lemon juice to meat and mix.
- Take one grape leave and open it so it is flat, and veins are facing up.
- Put about 1 tbs. of meat on the leaf, tuck sides in, and then tightly roll like a burrito.
- The meat should be completely covered. Repeat until all are made.
- Place all in a baking pan with lid as they are made.
- Make sure they are tightly packed so they do not unravel.
- When all are packed, add enough water to just cover the top row.
- Cook in an oven at 350’F for 1 ½ hours.
- Add 1 cup lemon juice. Cook for another 1 ½ hours, or until rice is fully cooked.
